+bio-Nox – the paint that cleans the air

Photocatalytic Powder Coatings

The new +bio-Nox of company Adapta Color is a photocatalytic coating that transform contaminating nitrogen oxide (NOx) into substances which are harmless to the human health. NOx is a general term which refers to a group of very reactive gases such as nitrous oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which contain nitrogen and oxygen in various proportions. In addition to their toxicity, nitrogen oxides react with hydrocarbons without burning and are the main causes of acid rain. Photocatalytic paints or coatings can capture the nitrogen oxide particles (NOx) emitted in the combustion of vehicles, decomposing harmful gases into harmless nitrates due to the action of the ultraviolet rays which solar radiation contains and the oxygen in the air. With the rain these soluble nitrates are easily dragged by water.
