Eliminating static with Ionization Technology
- Stat-Gun generates high voltage, positive and negative ions
- Reduction of dust and dirt inclusions
- Fully ATEX approved for use in Class 1 flammable environments
Static electricity occurs whenever electrically insulated materials move, rub against or separate from one another. This occurs particularly in dry conditions when charges which have accumulated cannot find a conducting path to earth. The clean and dry conditions within a spray booth create the perfect environment for static to generate in large amounts. To address this electrostatic problem, the company Static Solutions, UK, offers its Stat-Gun as the final stage of the preparation process just prior to spraying.

Reduction of dust and dirt inclusions
By using the Stat-Gun between every coat, it is possible to reduce dust and dirt inclusions, dark edges, blending issues, colour matching issues, patchiness, uneven application (e.g. tack rag marks) and runs/sinkage, it is said. In addition it possible to improve metallic laydown.
Stat-Gun generates high voltage, positive and negative ions
All materials contain positive and negative charges in the form of positive ions, negative ions and neutral molecules. When two surfaces are brought together (for example during the tacking process), surface electrons are shared, leaving behind “patches” of positive and negative static charge. In order for the surface to once again become neutral, positive and negative ions need to be introduced to the charged area. Positive neutralises negative and vice versa. The Stat-Gun generates high voltage transferred through tungsten emitters, which in turn generate positive and negative ions.
Fully ATEX approved for use in Class 1 flammable environments
Specifically designed for use within bodyshops, the Stat-Gun is cordless, battery operated (non-radioactive) and fully ATEX approved for use in Class 1 flammable environments.
